There are a few things you will need to do to join the Cub Scouts and Rye Pack 2:

  1. Please fill out this online form, which provides us with your contact info and all the information we’ll need to assign your child to an appropriate Den, by age and school.

  2. Subscribe EACH email address that you would like to receive emails regarding our Pack 2 events and other announcements via the mailing list signup page.

  3. Fill out an online Scouting BSA application for your child via the following link, which is specific to Rye Pack 2: https://my.bsa.us/388pac0002mb. You will be asked to pay dues to Scouting BSA as you complete the application process. For the 2024-2025 Cub Scouting year, dues to Rye Pack 2 will be $80/Cub Scout, but scholarships are available for families for whom this would present a financial burden; if so, just let us know.

  4. Fill out these medical and release forms -- when you click on the link it will take you to 3 forms in a 5 page pdf file. Please fill those out and bring those -- along with copies of your child's most recent annual physical and your healthcare insurance card -- to our next Pack meeting. Instead of filling out the immunization section of the medical form you can simply send your child's immunization record from his physician, if you so desire.

    Districts and councils are discouraged from keeping any digitized medical records. Our Troop will keep all forms in a confidential medical file for quick access in an emergency and in preparation for all adventures.

  5. Purchase a full "Class A" Cub Scout Uniform and Handbook at the local Scout Shop in Greenwich, CT or online at www.scoutshop.org. For the uniform you will need:

  • a shirt

  • convertible pants/shorts, or skorts are also available for girls

  • a belt

  • a neckerchief

  • a neckerchief slide

  • a hat

    NOTE: The handbook, hat, neckerchief and neckerchief slide for your child depends on their age/grade level (Kindergarten: Lion, 1st Grade: Tiger, 2nd Grade: Wolf, 3rd Grade: Bear, 4th & 5th Grade: Webelos).

You will also need a few patches, to sew on the uniform shirt:

  • a Greater Hudson Valley Council patch

  • a "2" red pack number patch

  • a den number patch (we will tell you the number), and

  • a purple global scouting patch (if it isn't already pre-sewn on the uniform)

There are instructions for where to place all the badges on the Files page of our website.  Sewing the badges to the uniform is most secure, but Badge Magic or a hot glue gun are decent alternatives.
